Box Three – Combinations

The Box of Combinations

Visual and tactile educational games exploring interrelationships.

Description

These accessible activities use the Celtic Knot pattern as a symbol of interconnection; with the first game inviting the participants to combine the puzzle pieces into nine different designs. Four large Knot pattern boards are then assembled and the image cards are used in a series of combination games.

Discovery explorations within this box start by recognising the interrelationships that are all around us within the natural worlds. The activities then consider the combinations within each person, such as our senses and emotions, our connected inner lives and person-to-person interactions. They then present several opportunities for designing original combination patterns, individual and group research, and stimulating creative storytelling.

Colours are combined to paint a picture, words for a story and notes for a song but there are many other combinations at play within our creative expressions and the interconnections observed throughout organic life.

With interrelationships key to all that we see and do these fun interactive games encourage the participants to interact with each other, whilst considering the reasoning within the interrelationships that they discover.
